Risk disclosure
Trading leveraged foreign exchange carries a high level of risk and can result in losses greater than your initial deposit. FXAIUNI provides education and general information only. It does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs, and it is not a recommendation to trade any product.
Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains
Leveraged foreign exchange and contracts for difference allow you to control a position much larger than your deposit. A small adverse move in the underlying market can therefore produce a large loss relative to your account, and in some circumstances a loss greater than the amount you deposited.
Under ASIC's product intervention order, retail leverage on major currency pairs offered by Australian-licensed providers is capped at 30:1. A 30:1 position loses 100% of the margin committed on a 3.33% adverse move.
Most retail accounts lose money
Providers of leveraged derivatives are required to publish the proportion of retail client accounts that lose money. Those figures are consistently high. You should assume that losing money is the common outcome, not the exception, and size your involvement accordingly.
Past results say very little about future results
Any example, case study, backtest or historical illustration on this site describes what happened in a particular period under particular conditions. It is not an indication of future performance and should never be relied on as one. Every case study used for teaching is clearly fictional.
Market conditions can change without warning
Prices can gap, spreads can widen dramatically, and liquidity can disappear around economic releases, central bank decisions, market opens and periods of stress. A stop-loss order is not a guarantee: it becomes an order to trade at the next available price, which may be materially worse than the level you set.
Holding positions overnight or over a weekend exposes you to gap risk and to financing (swap) costs.
This is general information, not personal advice
FXAIUNI provides education and general information only. Nothing on this site takes into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Before acting on anything here, consider whether it is appropriate for you and obtain independent advice from a licensed adviser if you are unsure.
We do not place trades, hold client funds, operate managed accounts or recommend specific products.
Published setups are teaching material
Setups published on this platform illustrate how a documented rule set applies to current market conditions. They are educational examples, not recommendations to trade. Many will not work out. No position size is ever stated for you, because that depends on your own equity and risk budget.
Read the provider documents
Before opening any account with a derivatives provider, read its Product Disclosure Statement, Financial Services Guide and Target Market Determination. These documents describe the actual product, its costs, and who it is designed for.
